Limerick Lions Under 12's win versus Glen Cruisers

Limerick Lions Under 12's win versus Glen Cruisers

Well done to Limerick Lions U12’s after a tough encounter with Glen Cruisers.

In the first quarter both teams traded baskets in a high tempo game.

Lions held a 4 point lead going into the 2nd quarter.

Lions then pushed further ahead with some good scoring, while playing tough defense.

Alan Fitzgerald & Alfie McCoy both ran the point in controlled performances.

Lions then never looked back and extended their lead in quarters 3 & 4.

Glen Cruisers battled well throughout, in a free flowing game with few

fouls, played in a very sporting manner.

Alan Fitzgerald, Joey Fogarty & Alfie McCoy led the scoring for the Lions.

While Matthew Barry, Nathan Stanners, Stephen Shaw, Christy Carroll, Liam Price &

Sean Morrissey also chipped in with some important baskets.

Lions held possession well throughout the game with few turnovers and

Janis Pliesmanis, Adam Lengen and Liam Finn played solid defensively.

Good to get a win in an improved performance in the last match of 2015,

Best wishes to Glen Cruisers for the rest of the season.

Lions beat Lakers in overtime thriller!

Limerick Lion's u18 had a great win in the NM League against their local rivals Limerick Lakers with a win in OT.

Lions started at a great pace but Lakers got back to 2 pts at the end of the 1st QT, the game was tight throughout with Jack Coyne running the point very well and controlled the tempo of the game Lions were 2pts up when Lakers leveled to send the game into Overtime with both teams in foul trouble.

Lions played better defence and Lakers started to foul, Jack Coyne hit 5 from 6 free throws to win. This was a very entertaining game by both sides and played in a good sporting manner.

Our youngest player Cathal Morrissey played one of he best games this year finishing with 10 pts, Karolis notched up 13 pts, Iain 9pt, Cameron 8 pt, Jack Coyne finished with a great score of 25pts. Greg is still struggling with a leg injury which effects his 3pt shooting. Kuba and Christian did some great work coming off the bench .We were missing two regular players Jack Kelly and Hubert who should be back for our Cork league game next Sat v Lakers.

Limerick Lions u18 vs Ballincollig u18

Limerick Lions U18 Travelled to Cork last Saturday evening to play a strong Ballincollig side.

The first quarter saw Lions lead by 17 – 16  in which Lions played very well  both sides were on top form from the 3 point line. Jack Coyne ran the point very well beating the press by Ballincollig. Iain Campbell had some very good baskets also.

The second Quarter saw Ballincollig lead by 14 and this is where the game was lost with too many turnovers by Lions. If we could just stop having so many turnovers it would have been a closer game. Karolis  Vikaitis hit some lovely 3 pointers in the game also Christian Ryan notched up 12 pts, Greg O Callaghan is still recovering from a foot injury which effected his game  hopefully he will recover for our next game. Cameron Di Benedetto had a fine game on the fast break, Jack Kelly is a rookie to the game  and has shown good potential for the further Kuba Gajerski is also new to the game and is improving as the season goes on.

The 3rdquarter say some improvement but trying to get back a 14 point lead proved too much for Lions with Ballincollig having a much stronger bench to turn to. In the end Ballyincollig were winners by 92 to 66, Jack Coyne finished with 18 pt, Karolis 15 pt, Christian 12 pt, Iain 7 pt, Cameron 8 pt, Greg 6 pt.

Lions have a very busy time over the next month with games every week .
