Limerick Lions basketball club report - 27th January 2013
There were some some great wins for Lions last weekend. Pride of place goes to Lions U-18's who put up an impressive 105 points to beat St Brendan's of Tralee by 40 points in a Cork League encounter in St Clements college. Top scorers for Lions were Diarmuid O'Shea with 23, David O'Connell with 21 and Luke Ryan with 16 points. There were great performances also from Joe Dudley and Adam Barry. Lions seniors had an impressive 98 to 84 win in the North Munster mens league away to to Litpol, a Russian ex-pat team based in Birr, Co.Offally. Diarmuid "Dod" O'Donovan and Rando Kozlov were in great form for the Dave Barry's team with 26 and 24 points apiece and there were fine games also from Raido Koiv, Paul Horkin and Aaron Lynch. Lions U-16's also had a good win by 48 to 26 in the Cork League away to Carraig Na BhFear, with Adam Barry, Matthew Sutton and Vullnet Halimi best for Diarmuid O'Donovan's side. Lions U-14 A team had a comfortable win in the North Munster league over Celtics B with good games from Shane Flanagan, Niall Sweeney, Rory McNamara and Matt Guillermo. Lions U14 B team lost to Celtics A but had some good performances from Eoin O'Donnell, Ben Murphy, Cian McDonnell and Dylan Sutton.

Lions juvenile teams travelled to Neptune stadium in Cork last Friday night for Cork league games. Harry Coyne's U14's had a great win v Neptune B with super performances from Neville O' Sullivan, Cameron Di Benedetto, Jack Coyne, Jazz Pendejito and Iain Campbell. Lions U-16 and U-18 teams put in good performances while losing to strong Neptune sides. Adam Barry, Matthew Sutton and Vullnet Halimi were excellent for Lions U-16 while Joe Dudley, Darragh O'Connor, David O'Connell and Diarmuid O'Shea impressed for Lions U-18. On Sunday it was the turn of Trevor Moore's U-12 side and they had a comfortable victory away to Lakers in the North Munster league with impressive displays from Nathan Moore, Dylan Sutton, Joey Byrne and Ronan Cregan. Lions U-18's also played Lakers in the North Munster league on Sunday and went down by 10 in a game which was close throughout with the Lions boys just fading in the final quarter. Luke Ryan, Joe Dudley and David O'Connell were best for Lions.
