Lions Escape From Ballina by 1 point. 6th-Oct-07 PDF Print E-mail

The Lions had a great escape tonight from a full house Merry Monk Ballina by 1 point, 85 84. Having lead  comfortably from the outset and by ten points at the half, the Lions came under pressure in the third and forth quarters, Steven King taking a serious injury to the shoulder and Thomas Davis being fowled out with five minutes to go. Two points down with seconds to go, following a good combination of passes from Lions, up stands Rob Lynch with a 3 pointer to give Lions the winning margin.  

 

 
The New Superleague Season 2007-08 Begins PDF Print E-mail

Its that time of year again, the Superleague is here, and Limerick Lions are ready to roar. 

The Limerick Lions senior men’s basketball team for the 2007-08 season is:
Neil Campbell, Stephen King, Robert Lynch, Paul O’Sullivan, Mike Dowd, Aidan Holden, Mark Considine,
Renars Uzraugs, Damian Lenkiewizc, Kiah Thomas, Thomas Davis, Aidan O’Brien, Matt Hall

The team coach for the coming season is Matt Hall, now in his sixth year with Limerick. The assistant coach is Paul Kennedy, and team manager is John King.

Limerick are building a team with a nice blend of youth and experience. There is a solid base of local Limerick players including Neil Campbell, Stephen King, Rob Lynch, Aidan Holden and Aidan O’Brien.

The Irish base is further complemented
with players at UL including Paul O’Sullivan, Shane Freeman and Mike Dowd.

Joining from overseas is Mark Considine, an experienced player who comes in from
Spain. Kiah Thomas, a US college player with Old Dominion, comes in from West Virginia. Thomas Davis, another US college player comes in from Louisiana State University

Golf Classic PDF Print E-mail
The Limerick Lions Golf Classic 07 has just been announced.

The dated to keep free for this years Golf Classic is Friday 14th September.

The venue is the Charleville Golf Club and the first tee is at 12 O'Clock.               

A great day out is promised including meal and there will be top prizes to play for.

DART Killester are the 2007 Nivea For Men SuperLeague Champions after a superb tussle against Merry Monk Ballina at the UL Arena this afternoon.

The game was a tense affair with the two Northern Conference sides looking for their firt piece of silverware of the season.
