Q.   Is there more than one team in the club?

A.    Yes, there are many teams operating within the Limerick Lions Club framework - the most well known being the men's Superleague team. Over the past number of years the club has set up a number of underage teams (from under 8's up to under 18's) and a second senior team who play in the Division 1 league.

 

Q.    Where do Limerick Lions play their Superleague home games?

A.    The Limerick Lions play all their home fixtures in the magnificant University Arena, Limerick.

 

Q.    Is the Limerick Lions Superleague team made up of professional players?

A.    Some players do receive payment for playing and due to terms of Visa's, etc. they cannot have any other form of employment - so they would generally be considered professional. However, for the most part players do not receive payment and those who do still need a second income.

 

Q.   Do many people go to see the Limerick Lions play?

A.   Basketball is rapidly becoming a popular spectator sport in Ireland, the Limerick Lions play in a venue which holds a capacity of numbering in the thousands - so we expect fans to turn up - typically they number in the hundreds though.
