Limerick Lions Basketball Club - A brief introduction
Limerick Lions basketball club is actively involved in developing the game of basketball in the City and County of Limerick and has been at this job for many years. From modest beginnings it has grown into a successful club playing in the top level of  Senior Men's National League, the Irish Superleague.

The Lions club is an open, progressive and ambitious club, and is setting big targets for itself and members to achieve in the coming years. The club is intent on developing the game of basketball in Limerick and is forging links with other clubs, sporting organisations, and the wider basketball and sporting community, in Ireland and overseas.

Players from Limerick Lions have gone on to play for Ireland, especially at U18 and U20 levels, and many players also play for their college /university team.

The club committee, comprising Juvenile and Senior Men’s sections, is made up from a very dedicated group of volunteers who put in long hours to ensure that the basketball programmes are the best in the Country. All men’s home games are played in the Sports Arena at the University of Limerick - acknowledged by most people as Irelands Top Basketball venue.

The main basketball season runs from September to June each year and the club has teams from Boys under 9s, through each age group up to U20s, and Senior men’s. The Superleague season for men runs from October to March each year and is the flagship league for basketball in Ireland. Limerick Lions is determined to continue developing and playing teams at all age levels and is proud to be playing in the top league in Ireland.
