The University Arena hosted ‘Southern Slam’ on August 15, the event saw the Irish Senior team take on 'The Fighting Irish' Notre Dame University from Indiana, USA. The Americans beat Ireland on the day but many have claimed it to be a win for Limerick basketball as huge crowds turned out to see a spectacular display of basketball. Stephan King of the Limerick Lions had to sit the match out due to injury but is looking forward to stepping onto the very same court kitted out in his Limerick jersey this October.
