Attending a Limerick Lions home match is all about having a good time whether your a die hard basketball fan or a family with kids who need to be entertained - we're working hard to create an experience to remember. This will not happen over night, we'll need a number of years to build and grow, to experiment and see what works - but we are beginning right now. This year the Limerick Lions have a number of new services and new investments which we think you'll like: - The Lions Bus
- The most fun way of getting to the Arena on match days - Bus Eireann are running this special themed service on its regular 308 routes departing from William Street at 18:30 and 18:45. The Lions Bus will feature match build up on board to create an energy second to none.
- Limerick's Live 95fm T-Shirt Throwaway
- Limerick's Live 95fm have a few spare t-shirts that they want Lions fans to take home, so Larry will be throwing them up into the crowd. When you see a lion run out with t-shirts in hand, brace yourself – it gets rowdy in the stands.
- Larry the Lion
- Larry the Lion, Limericks first Lion man (half man, half lion), the symbol of all that is right about our club will be at hand to create mischief and keep you entertained at our home matches. Larry is a friendly Lion, he likes it when you go up and say hello, so do – pose for a picture, give him a high five – but do not pull his tail, you have been warned!
- African Drummers
- In Africa natives used drum telegraphy to communicate with each other from far away for centuries (bet you didn’t know that). In partnership with Doras Luimni and the NCP these lads will be providing the noise during timeouts, quarter times, and whenever they get a chance to let you know they want you to make some noise.
- Halftime Entertainment
- The main event at all our home matches – for four minutes the court is handed over to dancers, gymnasts, marching bands, illusionists, martial artists, kids, lions, balloons, entertainers and all that good stuff
- Competitions
- From time to time the Lions like to through a raffle or fans down from the stands to sing, dance, or shoot some hoops. Some will win money and go home happy, others will make a fool of themselves and may go home injured – but at the end of the day it’s all in the name of fun!
We will also be holding more events this year, including an exclusive 'Party with the Players' for members of our young Supporters Club - the Kiz 'Cubs Club', for adult fans we have exclusive fan events also. If that doesnt sit too well we have more open events schedualed throughout the year such as a Limerick Lions Basketball night in Trinity Rooms on Friday November 21st and on the 13th of December we have a Christmas 'Winter Wonderland' - more will be revealed later.
