U14's Still Top!

Lions u14's came out deserved winners in this local derby against the Celtics, even though they were a little rusty after the Christmas holidays.

With the Christmas break behind them the Lions were playing in an away match to an improving Celtics side. The starting five of Cian Collins, Conor Cullen, Diarmuid O'Shea, Shane McNamara and Michael Hickey were slow off the mark, but both sides had difficulty finding scores and were evenly matched.

Lions led to the half with Luke Ryan and Ian Coates doing some good work. Eoin Fahey and Aaron Madden defended well and picked up some easy scores. Emmet Gleeson, Matthew Sutton and Emmet Ryan put in good shifts when called upon.

From the Lions point of view the story of the game was the amount of missed points under the basket and the amount of easy turnovers . In the final stages of the Lions comfortably managed a scoring run by the Celtics and finished out the game with a small but comfortable margin. Harry Coyne was happy with how his young team performed at the end of the day.
