Lions 25 players at u14!

It was a busy weekend for Lions. On Friday night Lions two under-14 teams faced each other in the North Munster league. Mark Sutton’s charges kept it competitive for most of the game with Harry Coyne’s team only pulling clear in the last quarter. Matt Sutton, Brian Murray and Aaron McNamara played fine games for the B-team while Michael Hickey, Emmet Ryan, Cian Collins and Conor Cullen were best for the A-team. The Lions under-14 program has been a great success this year, with Harry Coyne and Mark Sutton having done great work in developing over 25 players in this age-group (in picture). Lions under-14 A-team are looking very good for a place in the All-Ireland tournament in April.

On Sunday Lions played St Brendan’s Tralee in the Kerry League at under-14 and under-16. Lions under-14’s put in another fine performance against the table-toppers from Tralee and were just edged out by 5 points. Best for Lions were Shane McNamara, Diarmuid O’Shea and Luke Ryan with an impressive 20 points. Lions under-16’s lost out to a very strong Tralee side. Theo Giannapoulos, Cillian Fahey and Darragh O’Connor battled bravely for the Lions.

Dave Barry’s senior team also took on St Brendan’s in the Kerry senior league division 1 on Wednesday night, losing out by 10 points in a lively game at St Clements.

Next weekend is another very busy one with Lions under-12s travelling to Killorglin for an under-12 cup game on Saturday and Lion’s under-12’s, 14’s and 16’s hosting St Mary’s on Sunday.
