Lions Progressing at all ages

It was a great weekend for Lions under-12s with two fine wins. On Saturday a large squad travelled to Killorglin and comfortably saw off the local side by 9 points in the Kerry plate quarter-final. On Sunday the boys put in another great performance beating St Marys by 26 points to 6 in the Kerry League. Jack Coyne and Matt Sutton were outstanding at guard in both games as were forwards Aaron McNamara, Sean O’ Brien and Shane Flanagan. Barry Kelleher, Colm Moran, Christian Ryan and Dylan Gleeson played some great defence and Jazz Pendejito, Niall Sweeney, Cameron De Benedetto and Neville O’ Sullivan also had fine games. Jack McKeown, Rory McMamara and Mark Shiels also made valuable contributions. The team is into the semi-final of the Kerry plate and also sit proudly on top of division 2 with a 100% record in the Kerry league. Coaches Jason Barry and Jonathan Hickey can be very pleased with the progress of this team.
Lions under-14s had a tough encounter this weekend against a very strong St Marys under-14 side. After a slow start the Lions boys made a game of it in the second half; however they just couldn’t claw back the first half deficit and lost by 12 in the end. Aaron Madden, Luke Ryan and Diarmuid O’ Shea were best for Lions.
This week is another very busy one with Lions under-12s hosting St Bridgets in the semi-final of the Kerry plate on Sunday. On the same day Lions under-14 A and B teams will travel to play New Inn in the North Munster League. Lions seniors play St Marys in the Kerry league at home on Wednesday night and play the same team away on Sunday.
