U14 Blues battle with Newport

U14 blues were also in action on Friday with a late tip off in a friendly against Newport. This was a good work out for both teams with some nice basketball been played, but Newport in the end emerged as winners.

Brian Murray controlled the game at point, scoring some nice baskets, while also setting up Emmet Gleeson who scored 12 points on the night. Daniel Delaney hustled well throughout the game and made some good turnovers and shot well. Jason Curran and James Duffy contributed well when called upon as the Lions pushed Newport and kept the game close for a long period.

Aaron McNamara as usual had a fully committed game and gave the Newport lads a hard time, as did Eoin Fahey, Colin Coyce, Sean Moran, Conor Cullen and Brian Spillane. Newport in the end pulled away and fully deserved the win.

This was a good effort by the U14 Blues, coach Mark Sutton will be very pleased.
