Ajay Ryan Walsh has secured a basketball scholarship in Phelps Prep School, 22 miles west of Philadelphia and will be heading there in the coming days!
Ajay began his basketball career with Limerick Lions at the age of 6. Ajay always showed great promise and athleticism and was a force to be reckoned with on court. He played with Castletroy College and reached the U19A All Ireland finals with his team in 2008, unlucky not to take the win that day.
Ajay earned his caps playing for the Irish under 18 team in the European Championship in the summer of 2021, scoring some lovely baskets and being a real defensive presence on the court.
Ajay played with the Limerick Lions U20 team and more recently played National League with the Limerick Sport Eagles team, coached by Matt Hall and Niall Berry.
This move to the USA marks the next chapter in Ajay’s basketball career and with hard work and dedication, it should see him progressing to play USA college basketball.
All at Limerick Lions will miss him but we wish you every success in the future! Go get ‘em Ajay!
