U16A team go down to local rivals Limerick Celtics in the U16 Division 1 Cup Semi-final

Our U16A team had their first North Munster game in close on 22 months this Sunday 28th November 2021.
Our boys started very strong with some great outside shooting from Darragh Horkan and Sean Morrissey and finished the first quarter leading 17 points to 12.

Celtics came in to the second quarter with a full court press, forcing some mistakes from our lads. Javier Echavarri took some great drives to the basket but unfortunately himself and Patryk Rejkowicz got into early foul trouble, which meant that coach Paul Horkan had to sit them out for a good part of the game. At half-time there was nothing between the teams with Celtics taking the lead 34-32.

Ross Ferguson was a very strong defender throughout the game and when Shubh Sharma came off the bench, he worked hard to rebound under the boards. The 3rd quarter finished 55-52 in Celtics favour.

In the fourth quarter, some poor passing from our lads got Celtics some quick and easy scores. Failure to block out gave the Celtics players second chances under the boards and they made them count. The final score finished 75-66 to Limerick Celtics. It was a super display of basketball from two very strong sides. The future is bright for Limerick basketball.

Top scorers for Limerick Lions:
Darragh Horkan 23 points
